Full Diagnostic
Assessments for
Dyslexia
(8-18 year olds)
In the Somerset and Bath area

What's involved?

* Step 1: Make an enquiry and I will arrange a free phone consultation to discuss current strengths and needs.

* Step 2: If an assessment is agreed to be appropriate, I will send out questionnaires which must be completed by caregivers and education setting. An eye test must have been completed within a year of the assessment date.

*Step 3: A deposit is paid to secure a date for the assessment.  Full payment must be received at least 48hrs before the assessment date, along with all questionnaires in order to proceed.

* Step 4: The assessment takes place, usually at the education setting, although this can be discussed and alternative arrangements made if necessary.  This takes around 3-4 hours and involves a selection of tasks which assess underlying ability, spelling, writing, reading and reading comprehension skills, along with a range of tests to assess processing speed, working memory and phonological awareness.

* Step 5:  A full diagnostic report is written and will be sent within 3 weeks.  This will include a diagnosis only if this is in line with the assessment outcomes and observations.  The report is a very detailed document and includes an overview and personalised recommendations.

The report can be used to apply for Disabled Student Allowance and (if agreed with the education setting) can be used to support Exam Access Arrangements, though it is important to note that all EAA are at the discretion of the education setting.

Costs and Availability

* £550 for a full diagnostic assessment and report for individuals aged 8-18. (In Somerset and Bath area)
