FAQs
What is Dyslexia?
Dyslexia affects around 10% of the population and is a neurobiological difference. It affects each person in an individual way and can range in its severity. It often runs in families and is a life-long condition. It impacts on the ways an individual learns to read, write, spell and can also impact on other areas of learning such as distinguishing left from right, following directions and learning other languages.
Dyslexia can co-occur with other developmental differences such as ADHD, Dyscalculia, developmental co-ordination disorder and developmental language disorder. It can also co-occur with visual difficulties, and these may need investigating before a full diagnostic assessment is completed.
